Thanksgiving is our favorite American holiday. The best part of our family’s Thanksgiving tradition is not stuffing ourselves with Turkey until we can’t move anymore (well, most of us), rather it is going around the table and saying what we are thankful for. This year, we started out Thanksgiving day in Singapore, but as it coincided with travel day we did not get to a proper home cooked dinner feast until Saturday evening in Sydney, Australia. By Jude’s special request we all agreed that our Thanksgiving dinner this year will be closer to that first Thanksgiving dinner many years ago. Therefore, it was vegetarian, made with love by our traveling chef Victoria, out of the fresh food we bought earlier in the morning in the Bondi Beach Farmers’ market.
As the five of us are together, but we are away from Lucy and our extended family, we decided to put together this post so that we will always remember what we are thankful on this special Big Trip Thanksgiving holiday:
Victoria:
“I am thankful for our family. For abba for making the Big Trip possible and for putting up with me and all my moods 🙂 For my kiddos for being THE BEST travel companions. Easy going and flexible, adaptable, and always with a good attitude and openness for new adventures.”
Eitan:
“I am thankful for family, health and being able to see and explore the world. I am thankful for Victoria making our family and feeding and nurturing us all. I am thankful for Jude’s unicorn, pure aura and outdoorsy, nature loving ways which have really shined during the Big Trip (and for being the best big brother). I am thankful for Myla’s practicality, pragmatism and common sense (and for her being the best and most responsible babysitter). I am thankful for Sage’s mischievous and funny monkeyness and Baba-bossy personality which keeps us all in line. I am thankful for this life, for living today and being excited about tomorrow.”
Jude:
“During the thanksgiving dinner, in-between stuffing myself with stuffing, I said the things I was thankful for. My first thing was the Big Trip. My second thing was Mama for being the nicest Mama in the world, Papa for being super nice and making the money for the Big Trip, Myla for being the funnest, most entertaining, and most annoying sister in the world, and Sage for being the cutest baby ever. My third thing was the delicious meal.”
Myla:
“I am thankful for the big trip, Sage and our whole family.”
Sage:
“My journal, home and moneys”
